After my first contact with a computer in the 1980's, I taught myself to program in BASIC and Z80 assembler. I went on to study Computer Science and have enjoyed a long career in Software Engineering.
All too often I have produced PoCs that are both of these definitions quite deliberately.
The idea being that the Proof of Concept served its purpose of demonstrating the art of the possible but executed as a Piece of C*p so it would **not* form the basis of production code.
However, I have also failed many times in my intent and the PoC (in both these forms) has been viewed by managers as a virtually finished job and told me to "polish (that turd) and ship it".
